Cherokee Wedding Prayer

Father Sky please protect the ones we love.

We honor all you created as we pledge our hearts and lives together.

We honor Mother Earth - and ask for our marriage to be abundant and grow stronger through the seasons;

We honor fire - and ask that our union be warm and glowing with love in our hearts;

We honor wind - and ask that we sail through life safe and calm as in our father's arms;

We honor water - to clean and soothe our relationship - that it may never thirst for love;

With all the forces of the universe you created, we pray for harmony and true happiness as we forever grow young together.

The Wise Woman's Stone

A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone
in a
stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the
wise
woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the
precious
stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without
hesitation.
The traveler left rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was
worth
enough to give him security for a lifetime.

But, a few days later, he came back to return the stone to the wise
woman.
"I've been thinking," he said. "I know how valuable this stone is, but
I
give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more
precious.
Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me this
stone."
Sometimes it not the wealth you have but what's inside you that others
need.

My uncle Denver.  I love him so much.    In this picture you can see the hurt he is feeling, it portrays his inner most feelings. Uncle Denver passed over March 2005 and he is missed by so many who loved him.  Click on the picture to take you to his memory page.

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a

battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son,

the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,

greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment

Inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope,

serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,

empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute

and then asked his grandfather,

"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
