Notes for Delitha Jane (Payne) Blanchard: My great-grandmother


Delitha was born July 10, 1867 in Juneau, Arkansas. The daughter of Melvin Payne and Sarah Ellen (Garton) Payne.



She died May 7, 1946. The cause of death was Bronco-pneumonia and acute circulatory collapse. Due to infirmaties of old age(per) her death certificate. When she died she was 79 years, 9 months and 27 days old.

Delitha is buried beside her husband Henry Wise Blanchard at the Kelley Cemetery in Carter county Missouri.



Her death certificate on file shows birth, death and marriage. Father is named as Melvine Payne and Mother unknown. Information given by Sara Burrows.



On the 1910 census she indicates her father was born in Missouri and her mother born in Alabama, her own age as 41 and that she had 7 children/7 living.



The Paynes came from Va to Burke county, North Carolina, then by 1815 were in Maury county, TN. A whole group of people left that area of TN and migrated to first Arkansas, then Ripley county, Missouri in 1841 including 3 Payne brothers--Daniel, Robert and Isaac. Descendants are still there today.
